Deleting your account
You can delete your Builds account yourself, from the app, at any time. This page says how, what goes, what stays, and how long it takes.
From the app (iPhone, iPad, Android, web, Windows, Mac)
- Open Settings.
- Under Account, tap Delete account.
- Read what will go and what stays, then tap Delete my account and confirm it (Face ID on iPhone and iPad, a second press on the web and Android).
Every device of yours is signed out at once. That is it.
Without the app
Write to info@digital1.one from the email address of your account and say "delete my Builds account". We confirm it is you (usually by a reply from that address), delete it within 7 days, and tell you when it is done.
Before you start
- If you are the only owner of an organisation, the app asks you first to make another member an owner, or to delete the organisation.
- If you linked an organisation's machine that other people work on, the app asks you first to remove it from the organisation, so their spaces are not left without it.
Until then nothing is deleted.
What is deleted at once
Everything we keep about you on app.builds.one:
- your account (Digital One account id and email), your settings, accent and instructions;
- the devices you signed in on, and their notification tokens: every device is signed out;
- your paired machines and residences: each one is unlinked, so it can no longer reach app.builds.one (the
buildssoftware on it keeps working on that machine); - your links to DispatChai and FrontierScore (the encrypted sign-ins we held);
- your unread marks, document marks and where you were in each conversation;
- your usage figures and status history;
- invitations you sent that nobody has taken up yet: they stop working and are deleted. One that was taken up stays for the person who took it, without your account id or address.
What is not deleted by this
- Your Digital One account. Digital One ID is the sign-in shared by Digital One's products (DispatChai, Gateward, FrontierScore and others), so deleting your Builds account does not delete it, and you can still use those products. To delete the Digital One account itself, go to digital1.one or write to info@digital1.one.
- Your machines' own data. Your conversations, code, checkpoints and API keys live on your machines, and only you can remove them. On a Mac or Linux server:
builds service uninstall --stop(on a Mac alsobuilds keeper uninstall), then delete the~/.buildsfolder. Your AI vendors' sign-ins live in their own folders (for example~/.claude*,~/.codex*): sign out with the vendor's tool. - A paid DispatChai residence. It is DispatChai's: close it in DispatChai. A free residence you got by invitation ends when you delete your Builds account, as when an invitation ends: it is stopped, kept 7 days, then removed with everything on it. Take your work off it first.
- Your space on an organisation's machine. It is locked at once (no one can sign in as it). Its files stay on that machine until the organisation's owner or admin removes the space; ask them. The organisation's log of events keeps the lines about what you did, as the organisation's record; they name your account id, not your email, and each is deleted 12 months after the event.
- An invitation someone sent you. It stays on the sender's list as their record, with the address they sent it to, until it is deleted 12 months after the invitation ended. The address you accepted it with is removed.
- A note that the deletion happened: a coded form of your account id that names no one outside our server, the time, and how many things were removed. It is kept 30 days, so that a sign-in made before the deletion cannot open anything.
- What the law makes us keep, if anything (for example a record of a legal request). Builds takes no payment, so there are no invoices here.
- The AI vendors' copies. What your agents sent to Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI or others is under your account with them; ask them.
What takes a little longer
| What | Gone after |
|---|---|
| Our daily encrypted backups of app.builds.one | 7 days |
| Invitation emails held by Resend, our email provider | 30 days after they were sent |
| Server request logs (network address, page, time) | 14 days (the web server's logs; the server's system log, at most 7 days). What the server program itself prints is kept until the program is next updated |
| Your messages to us | 2 years after the last one |
| Crash reports and usage counts (PostHog), if you said yes to them | They are not linked to your account, so we cannot find them by it. Deleting the app, or clearing the site's data, removes the random id they use. PostHog keeps events for the period its paid plan, which we use, sets: 7 years (PostHog: "Events data retention") |
| Copies of conversations on your devices | When you delete the app, or clear the site's data in your browser |
Changed your mind?
Deletion cannot be undone. You can sign in again with the same Digital One account and start fresh: pair your machines again, and they show the conversations they kept.
