Terms of Use

Builds · builds.one · app.builds.one · the Builds apps · the builds software

These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Builds. They are short on purpose. Where Builds cannot do something yet, they say so.

1 · Who we are

Builds is run by Digital One Technology Consulting Limited, a company registered in Ireland (company number 793205), 6-9 Trinity Street, Dublin 2, D02 EY47, Ireland, info@digital1.one ("we", "us"). Full details are in the legal notice.

2 · What Builds is

Builds is a coding orchestrator. You install the builds software on machines you control (a Mac, a Linux server, a DispatChai residence, or a space on an organisation's machine). It runs coding agents there — Claude, Codex, Grok and others — on your own subscriptions or API keys. The apps and app.builds.one let you watch and steer those agents from your phone, a browser or a terminal.

  • Builds is free today. If we ever charge for it, we tell you at least 30 days before, and nothing is charged without your agreement.
  • Builds is early. Parts are labelled Preview (today: Android, Windows) and may change or stop. The iPhone and iPad apps are distributed through Apple's TestFlight, under Apple's terms for it.
  • Builds does not sell model access. You bring your own plan or key; we resell nothing.

3 · Accepting these terms

By signing in to Builds or installing the builds software you accept these terms.

  • Age. You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Consumers. If you use Builds outside your trade, business or profession, you keep every right that consumer law gives you where you live. Nothing in these terms reduces them; where a sentence here would, it does not apply to you. Sentences marked business users only do not apply to you.
  • Business users. If you use Builds for a business, you confirm you may bind it, and the business is the user under these terms.

4 · Your account

You sign in with your Digital One account (Digital One ID, shared by Digital One's products). Builds receives your account id and email address.

  • Keep your account to yourself, and keep your devices locked. Anything done through your account, on your devices or by your agents on your machines is done by you.
  • Sign out lost devices (Settings → apps signed in), and tell us at info@digital1.one if you think someone else got in.
  • You can delete your account at any time: Settings → Delete account (how). That deletes your Builds account; your Digital One account stays, and you delete it at digital1.one or by writing to info@digital1.one.

5 · The Builds software on your machines

  • We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the builds software and the apps for as long as you use Builds, on machines you control or are allowed to use.
  • You may not sell, rent or sublicense it, or remove our notices. You may not reverse engineer it except where the law allows you to.
  • Updates install themselves. Builds keeps itself current on your machines from app.builds.one, so security fixes reach you. You can stop it (builds service uninstall --stop).
  • If Builds is ever published under an open-source licence, that licence replaces this section for the code it covers.

6 · Your AI vendors

Your agents run on your own accounts with the AI vendors. That relationship is between you and the vendor.

  • Their terms apply. Your use of Claude is under Anthropic's terms, Codex under OpenAI's, Grok under xAI's, and so on — including their usage policies, their limits and their rules on sharing an account. You are responsible for keeping to them. Builds uses a subscription only through the vendor's own tool, signed in on your machine by you.
  • Do not share a subscription. One person's plan serves that person only. Builds never lets one person's plan serve another, and you may not set it up to.
  • Your code goes to them. When an agent works, your machine sends your prompts and the code the agent reads to that vendor. Check what you are sending, especially other people's personal data or secrets, and check the vendor's settings for training and retention.
  • They can change. Vendors change their terms, prices and limits, sometimes at short notice. If a change stops a feature of Builds working, we will say so and do what we reasonably can, but we cannot promise any vendor stays available through Builds.
  • We are not affiliated with Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, Google, Mistral or any other vendor. Their names are their trademarks.

7 · What agents do, and AI output

  • You are in charge of your agents. An agent can read, write and delete files, run commands, install software, use the network, push to your repositories and spend money on an API key, within the permissions you give it. In the modes that let it act without asking ("accept edits", "auto", "bypass") it does so without asking you each time. Choose the mode for the machine and the work.
  • The answers are AI. Every answer in a conversation is written by an AI model, named on the conversation (Claude, Codex, Grok or another), not by a person and not by us.
  • Review the output. AI output can be wrong, insecure, or similar to someone else's code. Review and test it before you rely on it, ship it or run it in production. You are responsible for what you do with it.
  • Not a backup. Builds' checkpoints, where on, help undo a turn; they are not a backup. Keep your work in git or somewhere you control.
  • Spending caps help, they do not guarantee. Caps on API keys stop new turns once reached, but a turn already running may go past them, and a vendor may bill differently from our estimate. The vendor's bill is the bill.

8 · Your machines

  • You may use Builds only on machines you control or are allowed to use, and you are responsible for them: who can reach them, keeping them patched, and what runs on them.
  • Our server can reach a linked machine (it carries your commands to it). How we guard that, and how to unlink a machine, is on the security page.
  • On an organisation's machine, the machine's administrator can read everything on it, including your space there. The app tells you so before you make your space.
  • A DispatChai residence is provided by DispatChai under DispatChai's own terms.

9 · Invitations and free residences

  • Builds is open by invitation. An invitation link is for the person it was sent to, works once, and can be accepted for 14 days.
  • An invitation may come with a free DispatChai residence: one per person, of the size and for the time the invitation says (or with no end date). It is free to you; it has no cash value and cannot be transferred or exchanged.
  • If there is no room yet, it waits, and you are told.
  • It ends on its end date, or earlier if we have to end it, with at least 7 days' notice except for a breach of §10 or a security problem. It also ends if you delete your Builds account. When it ends, the machine is stopped, kept 7 days, then removed with everything on it. Take your work off it before then. We do not back it up.
  • The residence itself is provided by DispatChai under DispatChai's terms.
  • Whoever sent the invitation can see whether you accepted it and how the residence is doing — not what you do on it.

10 · Acceptable use

Do not use Builds to:

  • break the law, or store or send content that is illegal (including child sexual abuse material, terrorist content, or material that infringes someone's rights);
  • attack, scan, overload or get into systems that are not yours or that you have no written permission to test, including ours and other people's machines;
  • write, spread or run malware, phishing or spam;
  • break an AI vendor's terms, share one person's subscription with others, or get around a vendor's or our limits and caps;
  • get around Builds' security, reach another person's account, machine or organisation space, or probe app.builds.one beyond the security page's rules;
  • resell or rent out access to Builds, or run it as a service for others without our written agreement;
  • overload app.builds.one (for example with scripts that open thousands of connections).

How we enforce it. We do not read your machines or your conversations. We act on reports (§16), on what our automatic limits see (repeated wrong pairing codes, spending caps, invitation limits) and on what the law requires. A person decides any suspension; our automatic limits only pause the one action. If we restrict your account we tell you why and how to answer, unless the law or a security reason stops us. You can contest it at info@digital1.one, and a person reviews it.

11 · Your content

  • Yours stays yours. Your code, your conversations, your instructions and your files are yours. We claim no rights in them.
  • We may handle what passes through or is stored on app.builds.one (§4 of the Privacy Policy) only to run Builds for you. We do not train any model on it and do not sell it.
  • Feedback. If you suggest an improvement, we may use it, with no obligation to you.
  • Ours stays ours. The Builds name, logo, apps, software and site are ours (or licensed to us).

12 · Teams (organisations)

  • Anyone signed in may create an organisation and becomes its owner. Today: one organisation per person and up to 20 seats each, free; prices for teams are not set.
  • Owners and admins are responsible for their organisation: who they invite, the roles they give, the machines they link, any organisation key and its caps, and telling members how the organisation's machine and knowledge are run. The organisation must have a lawful basis for any personal data its members put on its machines.
  • Members run agents on their own plans, never another member's. An organisation key, where offered, is used only for desks the member puts on it, within the caps the admins set.
  • When you leave an organisation, or are removed, your space on its machines is locked at once; the organisation's admins decide when it is removed.
  • For the organisation's own data, we act on the organisation's behalf, as its processor. A data processing agreement (GDPR Art. 28) is available to every organisation: an owner or admin writes to info@digital1.one, with "Data processing agreement" and the organisation's name in the subject, and we send it to sign.

13 · Availability and changes to Builds

  • No service level. We run Builds as well as we can, but we do not promise it is always available, fast or free of errors. We do not pay service credits.
  • We may change Builds, add or remove features, or end a Preview. If a change takes away something important that you rely on, we tell you beforehand where we can.
  • If we stop Builds altogether, we tell you at least 60 days before. The software on your machines keeps your data there; you keep it.

14 · Ending

  • You can stop at any time and delete your account (how).
  • We may suspend or close your account, or a machine's link, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect Builds, other users or your own machine from a real risk. Where we reasonably can, we warn you first and give you time to fix it.
  • After an account is closed, §§7, 11, 15, 16 and 17 still apply.

15 · Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited — and nothing limits your rights as a consumer, including your rights if Builds is not as described or not fit for purpose.

Subject to that:

  • Our total liability to you for everything connected with Builds is limited to the greater of €100 and what you paid us for Builds in the 12 months before the claim. Builds is free today, so that is €100.
  • We are not liable for what your agents did with the permissions you gave them, for AI output you relied on without review, for an AI vendor's service, terms, limits or bill, or for losses on machines we do not run — except where the loss was caused by our own breach of these terms or our negligence.
  • Business users only: we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, or for indirect or consequential loss.
  • We are not liable for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control.
  • Business users only: you will cover us against claims by others arising from your content, your machines or your breach of §10.

16 · Reports and complaints

  • To report illegal content or a breach of §10: write to info@digital1.one with what it is, where it is, why you think it is illegal or against these terms, and your name and email (you may leave your name out if you report child sexual abuse material). We answer and tell you what we did.
  • Complaints come to info@digital1.one first. We would rather fix a problem than argue about it.

17 · Law and courts

  • These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland.
  • Business users only: the courts of Ireland decide disputes.
  • If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the EU country you live in, whatever these terms choose. You may bring a case in the courts of Ireland or of the country you live in, and we can bring one against you only in the country you live in.
  • If we cannot settle a complaint, consumers can turn to their national consumer authority or the European Consumer Centre in their country.

18 · Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the law or Builds changes. We post the new version here with its date. If a change is to your disadvantage, we tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it applies, and you may stop using Builds and delete your account before then. Continuing after that date means you accept the new terms.

19 · The rest

  • These terms, the Privacy Policy and any terms shown to you for a specific feature are the whole agreement. If part of them cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing something once does not waive it.
  • You may not transfer your account. We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over Builds; we tell you, and if you are a consumer and it leaves you worse off, you may leave.
  • We write to the email address of your account; you write to info@digital1.one.
